Unraveling Sacred Truths

Joseph the proverbial prodigal son, was raised in the Pacific Northwest during a time when the “American Dream” was still visible—yet rapidly evaporating. Born into a large family as the youngest of several siblings, he experienced life at both ends of the spectrum: a childhood marked by both chaos and wonder, within a middle-class upbringing many can easily identify with.

Son. Athlete. Soldier. Student.

A powerful salvation experience as a young teen was the first of many moments that would mark his encounters with the God of the Bible. Hard-headed and independent by nature, Josephs journey was far from linear. Shortly after his military service, a season filled with serious health challenges—stemming from overseas deployment—began to take its toll. Once again, the miraculous hand of God revealed itself, though not without a season of deep humbling.

As a young father, an insatiable hunger for the Word of God began to grow. What started as a decade of intense self-study eventually led to higher learning and the earning of a Master of Divinity. This degree was not pursued with plans for future ministry, but rather with a desire for structured theological grounding—aimed seemingly nowhere in particular. Yet, God had other plans.

And here we are.

Farewell Babylon is the culmination of this prodigal’s journey—both a rallying cry and a warning. Joseph is a man whose heart is after God’s own, with a deep desire to see the family of God strengthened—especially the younger generation. With children and grandchildren of his own, his hope is that listeners will glean wisdom and insight to help navigate the broken world we find ourselves in.
